Criticism to be fruitful must be artful. People can be taught to enjoy finding out errors they have made and how to improve. People have discussed focusing on the process rather than the goal. For example, Ghandian philosphy spoke of focusing on the means rather than the end. Civilization is not immediately realized but is always a process so we need not be ashamed of our failing as the human animal in general.
